High School Orchestra Director

Ms. Sarah Fitzgerald
 

Ms. Fitzgerald received a Bachelor of Music at Appalachian State University, Boone, North Carolina. She has done graduate work at Appalachian State and the University of South Carolina.

 

Ms. Fitzgerald's instrument is the viola. She received scholarships to Cannon Music Camp and the Eastern Music Festival. She received the Honors Teaching Award from Appalachian State University and has been conductor/clinician of Western Region Orchestra, Florence All-City Orchestra, and Midlands Region Orchestra. Ms. Fitzgerald is President of the South Carolina Music Educators Conference, Orchestra Division and is a member of M.E.N.C. and A.S.T.A. (American String Teachers Association). She is also lead teacher for the Charleston County String Teachers. 

 

Ms. Fitzgerald conducted the Charleston County Prep Orchestra from 1995-2002 and is the sponsor for the Tri-M Music Honor Society at the School of the Arts. Ms. Fitzgerald has been teaching for 20 years; ten of those years in Charleston County. Before that, she taught in Berkeley County and in the Charlotte/Mecklenburg School System.

 

Ms. Fitzgerald performs in the Long Bay Symphony in Myrtle Beach as well as in various chamber groups around Charleston.
